Take Care, Take Cover is the second studio album by Australian indie folk band The Mae Trio, released in April 2017 via The Mae Trio.
About the Band:
The Mae Trio are a young, contemporary folk band from Melbourne, Australia comprising Maggie Rigby, Elsie Rigby and Anita Hillman. Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut studio album Housewarming in 2013, they have made a vibrant splash in the international acoustic music scene across Australia, UK and America. This has included appearances at Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Cambridge Folk Festival in England, Perthshire Amber Festival in Scotland and Woodford, Port Fairy and The National Folk Festivals in Australia.
Humbly authentic, dynamic and striking, the trio write powerful original songs, accompanying them on cello, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and ukulele and stunning three part harmonies. Their disarming on-stage presence and originality makes for a spellbinding and refreshing live experience. 2016 has seen The Mae Trio embark on their first tour of Canada as well as the upcoming release of their Nashville-recorded, second full-length album Take Care, Take Cover in April 2017. The band will undertake an Australian tour to launch the album, followed by a North American tour during the summer of 2017.
About the Album:
The new album features 11 songs, 10 of which are original compositions written by band members Elsie Rigby and Maggie Rigby. The cover song on the album is “Waterlily” written by Scottish singer-songwriter Karine Polwart, and featured on her debut studio album Faultlines, released in 2004.
The trio decamped to Nashville Tennessee in February 2016 to record the album with producer and engineer Erick Jaskowiak (Crooked Still, Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott, The Waifs).
The album features guest performances by The Stray Bird’s Maya De’Vitry (fiddle); Darrell Scott (lap steel guitar), The Time Jumper’s Jeff Taylor (accordion); Victor Krauss (double bass); Jano Rix (drums); and Kai Welch (trumpet).
Speaking of the recording experience Maggie says “The day after we arrived we got snowed in for four days in the third highest snowfall in Nashville on record. As three Australians who have never been snowed in anywhere this was a huge thrill! The slightly isolated location of the studio also gave us the space and peace to record something that was sincerely and completely ourselves.”
The first single from the album "Well Enough Alone" was released on 24 February 2017.
Stand out tracks for “The Captain” are: Well Enough Alone, Sweet As Honey, Heart of a Storm, Skye and Mr Moon.
Check out a couple of tracks from the album: Well Enough Alone (Official Video); Well Enough Alone (Live); Mr Moon (Live); and Well Enough Alone.
This album is on Compact Disc housed in a Tri-Fold Sleeve with a Lyric Booklet, pressed in Australia.
