Mick Taylor is the debut solo album by British blues rock guitarist Mick Taylor, originally released in June 1979 via CBS Records in the UK and Columbia Records in the US.

Mick Taylor is best known as having been a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1966–69) and The Rolling Stones (1969–74). He has appeared on some of the Stones' classic albums including Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St..

Taylor has worked with numerous other artists such as Jack Bruce, Bob Dylan, Alvin Lee, Mike Oldfield, Carla Olson and Percy Sledge. He has also released several solo albums. In 2011 he was ranked 37th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. He is regarded as a very melodic guitar player who can play outside the realm of pure rock and blues, including jazz, which is one of the reasons why Jack Bruce pursued him after his departure from the Stones.

Mick Taylor signed a solo contract with Columbia Records in 1977 and his debut album was released in 1979 to critical acclaim. The highlight of the album is his astounding guitar playing that fuses blues and rock, with jazz and Latin flavoured blues musical styles. At the time of the album’s release, this style of music was somewhat unfashionable with the rise of punk and new wave styles dominating the popular music charts.

His vocal abilities may not match those of his famed former band-mates such as John Mayall and Mick Jagger, but he carries the songs with aplomb. Songs such as “Leather Jacket” and “Baby I Want You” are more melodic in structure and songs like “Slow Blues”, “Giddy-Up” and “Spanish / A Minor” feature some great guitar work with great blues and rock grooves.

Taylor produced and played most of the instruments on the album including guitars, bass and keyboards with contributions from Lowell George (guitar), Jean Roussel (piano), Alan Spenner (bass), Mike Driscoll (drums), Pierre Moerlan (drums), Kuma Harada (bass), Richard Bailey (drums) and Norman Mighell (percussion).

The album peaked at #119 on the US Billboard 200 charts.
