White Men Are Black Men Too is the second studio album by Scottish hip hop group Young Fathers, released in April 2015 via Big Dada.

About the Artist:

Young Fathers are a hip hop and pop group based in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2014, they won the Mercury Prize for their debut album Dead.

The group consists of ‘G’ Hastings, from Drylaw, Edinburgh, Alloysious Massaquoi, originally from Liberia via Ghana, and Kayus Bankole, born in Edinburgh to Nigerian parents, but partially raised in Maryland in the USA, all 27 years old.  Their live shows involve Steven Morrison (AKA soonbe) on drums and occasional guest vocalist Lauren Holt (AKA LAWholt).

They have toured extensively, including Australia and have built a sold following globally.  Their two mini albums Tape One and Tape Two have been very successful and their debut album Dead received the Mercury Award for Best Album in 2014.  Dead entered the UK charts at 35 and topped the independent UK album charts.

About the Album:

The new album, White Men Are Black Men Too, was recorded at various places around the world, including Melbourne and London as well as Berlin and Edinburgh and features the Leith Congregational Choir on a couple of tracks.

Check out the tracks - Shame, Old Rock n Roll and Rain or Shine.

White Men Are Black Men Too received critical acclaim from contemporary music critics.

Andy Gill of The Independent felt that the album "has less to do, musically, with traditional American hip-hop than it does with a European indie sensibility grounded in krautrock, electropop and avant-rock."

Lanre Bakare of The Guardian commented that "[Young Fathers] manage the rare feat of melding pop and politics into a potent mix, and continue a tradition – begun by the likes of Smith & Mighty, Tricky and Massive Attack – of reinterpreting pop, hip-hop and soul through the filter of black British life."

This LP Record is on 180 Gram Vinyl with a Plain White Inner Sleeve and Digital Download , pressed in Europe.
