A Girl A Bottle A Boat is the tenth studio album by American rock band Train, released in January 2017 via Crush Records and Columbia Records.

It is the band's first album of new original material without lead guitarist and founding member Jimmy Stafford, who announced he would be leaving the band, at least temporarily in October 2016. Although he is not on the new album, he is currently still partially involved with the band, as he continues to play with them at some live performances and events. Luis Maldonado assumes guitar duties on this album. Pat Monahan is now the only original member of Train left in the band.

The first single from the album Play That Song was released in September 2016 and it reached #41 on the US Billboard 100, #21 on the UK and #8 on the Australian Singles charts. The song is really catchy and incorporates the melody of Heart and Soul written by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser.

American singer-songwriter Priscilla Renea is featured on vocals on the album track Loverman.

The album sounds very much like a Train album, with strong melodies and catchy hooks with Monahan’s distinctive voice driving the songs.

The album has received mixed reviews from the music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic gave the album a positive review, claiming that A Girl A Bottle A Boat is "an exuberant album, a celebration of everything that makes Train such a corny band. The hooks are big, the production is so glossy that it shines, and it's so cheerful it's bound to irritate anybody who isn't on the band's wavelength. If you're with them, though, a girl a bottle a boat is a good time because of its eagerness to please."

Members of Train that recorded this album were:

  • Pat Monahan – lead vocals, acoustic guitar
  • Jerry Becker – keyboards, guitar
  • Hector Maldonado – bass guitar
  • Luis Maldonado – guitars
  • Drew Shoals – drums

The album to date has reached #8 on the US Billboard 200, #13 on the UK and #5 on the Australian Albums charts. In the US this is Train's sixth album to chart in the Top 10 Albums chart.

The band will be promoting the album in 2017 with tour dates scheduled in North America, the UK and Europe.
