The Who - Who

WHO is twelfth studio album by British rock band The Who, released in December 2019 via Polydor Records.

Fifty-four years after the release of their debut album My Generation in December 1965, The Who release their twelfth studio album WHO.

The eleven-track album was mostly recorded in London and Los Angeles during spring and summer of 2019 and was co-produced by Pete Townshend & Dave Sardy (who has worked with Noel Gallagher, Oasis, LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz) with vocal production by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Roger Daltrey, Wilko Johnson).

As with their previous studio album Endless Wire (2006), Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey recorded their parts separately, and were joined on the album by long-time Who drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Palladino along with contributions from Simon Townshend, Benmont Tench, Carla Azar, Joey Waronker and Gordon Giltrap.

The first single from the album "Ball and Chain" was released in September 2019. This song is a re-recording of a Pete Townshend solo song called "Guantanamo", which was released on his 2015 compilation Truancy: The Very Best of Pete Townshend. A second song, "All This Music Must Fade" was released as a single in October 2019 and a third, "I Don't Wanna Get Wise" received a digital release in November 2019.

The album has reached #2 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart, #3 in the UK and #64 in Australia.

The covert artwork for the album was designed by Sir Peter Blake. The patchwork of 25 squares depict images and symbols from influences of the band’s career and culture.

This album is on 180 gram heavyweight black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and digital download code, pressed in Europe via Polydor Records.
