Black Market Clash is the first compilation album by British punk rock band The Clash, originally released in October 1980 via Epic Records.

Formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk, The Clash consisted of Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, lead vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky "TopperHeadon (drums, percussion). Widely referred to as "The Only Band That Matters", The Clash's politicised lyrics, rebellious attitude, and musical experimentation, incorporating elements of reggae, dub, funk, ska and rockabilly, along with Along with punk, their music had a far-reaching influence on rock, and in particular, alternative rock. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked The Clash number 28 on their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.

Released between the London Calling and Sandinista! albums, and released exclusively in the US, Black Market Clash compiled The Clash's recordings which were then unavailable in the US except as imports. The album was released on 10" vinyl and comprised a total of 9 tracks with a running time just over 34 minutes.

At the time of release, this was the only record that featured the cover of the "Time Is Tight" instrumental by Booker T & the MGs, while "Capital Radio" was extremely rare in the UK. Rather than re-issue the original the group recorded a new version for The Cost of Living as "Capital Radio Two". The full length version of "Justice Tonight/Kick It Over" was 8:54 and the 7:00 edited version is also unique to Black Market Clash (the edited version appears on this 10" compilation).

Black Market Clash reached #74 on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Check out the tracks "Time Is Tight", "Bank Robber/Robber Dub", and "Pressure Dub".

This LP record is a limited editon reissue (August 2011) on 10" black vinyl featuring remastered audio, housed in an unsealed plastic cover, pressed in the US via Drastic Plastic Records, limited to 5,000 copies.
