I Robot is the second album by British Progressive Rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released on Arista Records in June 1977.

The Alan Parsons Project were active between 1975 and 1990, consisting of Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson surrounded by a varying number of session musicians and some relatively consistent band members such as guitarist Ian Bairnson, bassist and vocalist David Paton, drummer Stuart Elliott, and vocalist Lenny Zakatek.

Behind the revolving line-up and the regular sidemen, the true core of the Project was the duo of Parsons and Woolfson. Woolfson was a songwriter by profession, but also a composer and pianist. Almost all songs on the band's albums are credited to Parsons/Woolfson. Bairnson and Elliott would continue to collaborate on Parsons’ solo albums, and contribute significantly to the songwriting.

The Project’s albums while not necessarily concept albums were based on individual themes.

I Robot draws conceptually on author Isaac Asimov’s science fiction Robot trilogy, exploring philosophical themes regarding artificial intelligence. As the rights already had been granted it was adapted to a more general theme of human versus artificial intelligence.

Three singles were released from the album, I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You, Don't Let It Show and Day After Day (The Show Must Go On). The LP track Breakdown went into heavy rotation on AOR stations and continues to be played on classic rock radio.

I Robot came out at a very fortuitous time, hitting record stores in the US the same week as Star Wars was released and suddenly robots were all the rage. I Robot was the only album being featured with a robotic cover.

This Music On Vinyl Remastered Audio LP is on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl housed in a Gatefold Sleeve, released in 2011 and pressed in Europe.
