In Concert With The Danish National Concert Orchestra And Choir is a live album by British progressive rock and symphonic rock band Procol Harum, originally released in May 2009 via Eagle Records.

Procol Harum formed in 1967 and are best known for the their hit single A Whiter Shade of Pale, which is considered a classic of popular music and is one of the few singles to have sold over 10 million copies. Although noted for its baroque and classical influence, Procol Harum's music also embraces the blues, R&B, and soul.

The band has seen many line-up changes since its formation with the constant membership helmed by lead singer and piano player Gary Brooker and his songwriting partner, lyricist Keith Reid.

The members of Procol Harum that recorded this live album were:

  • Gary Brooker – piano and vocals
  • Keith Reid – lyrics
  • Josh Phillips – organ
  • Mark Brzezicki – drums
  • Geoff Whitehorn – guitar
  • Matt Pegg - bass

This concert recording was made on 20 August 2006 held outdoors at the Ledreborg Castle, Denmark, with the Danish National Orchestra and Choir. A total of 15 songs were performed at the concert and 10 of these find their way onto this live recording that was originally released on CD in 2009 before seeing a release on vinyl in 2014. All 15 songs were released on the DVD video recording of the concert.

The concert is notable for the performance of the song Symphathy for the Hard of Hearing, which had never been released by Procol Harum before. The song is about the Second World War and was previously released on Gary Brooker’s third solo album Lead Me To The Water in 1982.

The band is in cracking form and the songs sound amazing with the full orchestration and choral voices behind them.

Allmusic’s Dave Thompson reviewed the album and gave it 4 out of 5 stars writing: “IN CONCERT is a masterful package capturing a phenomenal live show. Procol Harum, after all, have the kind of repertoire that naturally lends itself to the orchestral situation, and, of course, this isn't their first dive into those waters. But with less to prove than they had back in the 1970s, and with a fonder eye for their greatest material than they had when there was a new LP to push, this is a delightful walk through the band's back catalog. Recorded in 2006 against a truly spectacular open air backdrop, it is difficult to fault the track listing--"Grand Hotel" opens with epic grandiosity; "Homburg", "A Salty Dog" and "Conquistador" all stand out and, of course, "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" remains one of the all-time most haunting songs. The orchestra and choir just add to the mood.”

Check out the following tracks from the concert:  Grand Hotel , A Salty Dog ,  Homburg , A Whiter Shade of Pale and Conquistador.
