Swiss Movement is a live album by the Les McCann Trio with saxophonist Eddie Harris, originally released in 1969 via Atlantic Records.

Noted for his soulful funk style on piano, following an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, Les McCann formed a trio in Los Angeles with Leroy Vinnegar and Donald Dean, and signed with Pacific Jazz, gaining recognition for his albums Les McCann Plays the Truth and The Shout.

The first jazz artist to release a gold-selling record, thanks to 1961's hit adaptation of the Exodus movie theme; Eddie Harris was almost universally acknowledged as the best player of the electric Varitone sax, as heard on his hit 1967 album The Electrifying Eddie Harris. Long underrated in the pantheon of jazz greats, his "Freedom Jazz Dance" was turned into a standard by Miles Davis, and his experimentation was almost unlimited, even inventing his own instruments by switching brass and reed mouthpieces.

Recorded during a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, in June 1969, by the Les McCann Trio and saxophonist Eddie HarrisSwiss Movement is considered to be one of the best jazz albums of all time.

The session (on the last night of the festival) was an impromptu event - this particular line up had never played together before, and at least half of the group had no idea what material they were going to play as they took the stage, Swiss Movement ended up being nominated for the Grammy Award for best small group jazz performance.

Reaching No.1 on Billboard's jazz album chart, No. 2 on the R&B chart, and No. 29 on the US Billboard 200, along with the accompanying single "Compared to What", Swiss Movement would go on to sell over a million copies.

Check out the tracks "Compared to What", "The Generation Gap", and "Kathleen's Theme".

This LP record is a "Rhino Vinyl" serise reissue (August 2015) on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl featuring replicated original artwork with the LP cut from the original analog masters, pressed in Europe.
