Before This World is the seventeenth studio album by American singer-songwriter James Taylor, released in June 2015 via Concord Records.

Described by Rolling Stone as "the archetypal sensitive singer/songwriter of the Seventies",  James Taylor's songs, especially his early material, are tales of inner torment delivered in low-key tunes, with his understated tenor backed by intricate acoustic guitar parts that draw on folk and jazz. Achieving his breakthrough in 1970 with the US Hot 100 No. 3 single "Fire and Rain", his first No. 1 single came the following year with "You've Got a Friend", a recording of Carole King's classic song. His 1976 Greatest Hits album was certified Diamond and has sold 12 million US copies. He has retained a large audience over the decades, with every album released between 1977 and 2007 selling over a million copies.

Produced by Dave O'Donnell (Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles), Before This World is James Taylor's first US No. 1 album, and his first release of original material since 2002's October Road. Growing concerned that he might never create another original album, he decided cut off communication from the outside world, and lived alone in Rhode Island in order to write the album, later recording it in a barn on his property in western Massachusetts with members of his touring band Steve Gadd on drums and Jimmy Johnson on bass.

The ten songs on the album sound fresh and unexpected with a relaxed feel as a typical James Taylor album. The songs range in feel from happy pop to traditional English folk on "Before This World/Jolly Springtime" and "Wild Mountain Thyme,"  whilst a seeming protest song with "Far Afghanistan". It feels like it's a perfect album for James Taylor to make in 2015.

Three singles were released from the  album "Today Today Today", "Angels of Fenway", "Far Afghanistan"  and "Montana".

This LP record is on 180 gram vinyl and pressed in Europe.
