Seven Moons is the third collaborative studio album by British Jack Bruce & Robin Trower, originally released in 2008 via V-12 Records in the US and Evangeline Records in the UK.

Seven Moons sees Jack Bruce and Robin Trower rekindle their collaboration that had been dormant since 1982. They had released two albums B.L.T. (1981) and Truce (1982).

Perhaps Bruce had been re-energized by his live concert performances with his Cream bandmates Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker in 2005 after recovering from a liver transplant operation in 2003.

All the songs were co-written by Jack Bruce and Robin Trower (except “Just Another Day”), meaning that Bruce and Trower did not collaborate with lyricists they used on the prior albums (Pete Brown and Keith Reid).

The resulting album is a nicely paced set of bluesy riff-orientated tunes dominated by Trower’s distinctive guitar work. The album kicks off with the title track “Seven Moons” and immediately sets the tone for the album with the guitar riff echoing Hendrix with a psychedelic edge. Bruce’s vocals sit beautifully and he sounds in fine voice throughout the album.

Other standout tracks are “Lives of Clay”, “Distant Places of the Heart”, and “The Last Door”, which grooves along with a gritty guitar riff and solos. Gary Husband plays the drums subtly without taking anything away from the bass and guitar work.

This album has been remastered for vinyl by Jon Astley, and cut at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Here is an extract from the record label’s website about the album being reissued on vinyl in 2018: “…Two great Rock legends – ex Cream bassist, singer and composer Jack Bruce and ex Procol Harum guitar ace Robin Trower – once again join forces on their 3rd collaboration, this time with the assistance of ex Level 42 drummer Gary Husband. A truly great line up of rock pros.

Originally released in 2008, this album is full of Hendrix nuanced blues plus Cream style riffs. Classic rock fans will love this formula!...”
