Violence is the sixth studio album by British rock band Editors, released in March 2018 via PIAS.

The band currently consists of Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), and Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals).

Editors have released two platinum studio albums, and six in total, with several million combined sales. Their debut album The Back Room was released in 2005. It contained the hits "Munich" and "Blood" and the following year received a Mercury Prize nomination.

Their follow-up album An End Has A Start (2007) went to #1 on the UK Albums Chart and earned the band a Brit Awards nomination for best British Band. It also spawned another Top 10 hit single, "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors". The band's third album, In This Light And On This Evening (2009) went straight to #1 on the UK Albums Chart. The band released their fourth studio album, The Weight of Your Love, in 2013, followed by self-produced In Dream in 2015.

Violence follows the band’s 2015 album In Dream that peaked within the Top 10 in both the UK and US.

The new album features the single “Magazine”, a dizzyingly bright, yet barbed salvo; an anthemic pop song that savagely attacks the empty gestures and posturing of those in power.

Violence was produced by Leo Abrahams (Wild Beasts, Florence & the Machine, Frightened Rabbit), and Benjamin John Power (Blanck Mass, Fuck Buttons).

Lead singer Tom Smith is quoted about the making of the album: "We had a lot of help from a guy called Blanck Mass, who makes very brutal electronic music. So when it's electronic, it's very electronic. But then when it's guitar-y, it's very band driven. I think we've managed to find the balance of those two things better than we have done before. Over the years, we've gone from backwards between more band-orientated sounding records and more electronic records. I think there's a balance here between melody and brutality that I don't think we've managed to get before."

Check out the tracks:  Magazine”; “Hallelujah (So Low)”; “Cold”; “Nothingness”; and “Belong”.
