Confrontation is the 13th and final studio album by Jamaican reggae band Bob Marley and the Wailers, originally released in May 1983 via Island Records and Tuff Gong Records.

Bob Marley and the Wailers were originally formed as a ska vocalist when self-taught musician Hubert Winston McIntosh (Peter Tosh) met the singers Neville Livingston (Bunny Wailer), and Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) in 1963, and were later joined by singers Junior BraithwaiteBeverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith.

By the early 1970s, Bob and Bunny had learned to play some instruments and brothers Carlton Barrett and Aston "Family ManBarrett on drums and bass had joined what was now a reggae band. And after Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh left the band in 1974, Bob Marley began touring with new band members, consisting of the Barrett brothersJunior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "WyaLindo on keyboards, and Alvin "SeecoPatterson on percussion. The "I Threes", consisting of Judy MowattMarcia Griffiths, and Marley's wife, Rita, provided backing vocals.

Confrontation was compiled from unreleased material and singles recorded during Bob Marley's lifetime, with many of the tracks were built up from demos, most notably "Jump Nyabinghi" where vocals from the I-Threes were added. In addition the harmony vocals on "Blackman Redemption" and "Rastaman Live Up" are performed by the I-Threes in order to give the album a consistent sound, rather than by The Meditations as per the originals. The album was released posthumously, two years after Marley's death, with "I Know" released as a single after his death as Bob Marley had requested.

The cover of Confrontation is a reference to the story of St. George and the Dragon, with dragon on the cover representing Babylon being slain by Bob Marley. The album's inside sleeve is a depiction of the Battle of Adowa where Ethiopian forces defeated Italy in 1896.
