Housewarming is the debut studio album by Australian indie folk band The Mae Trio, released in February 2014 via The Mae Trio.

About the Band:

The Mae Trio are a young, contemporary folk band from Melbourne, Australia comprising Maggie Rigby, Elsie Rigby and Anita Hillman. Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut studio album Housewarming in 2013, they have made a vibrant splash in the international acoustic music scene across Australia, UK and America. This has included appearances at Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Cambridge Folk Festival in England, Perthshire Amber Festival in Scotland and Woodford, Port Fairy and The National Folk Festivals in Australia.

Humbly authentic, dynamic and striking, the trio write powerful original songs, accompanying them on cello, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and ukulele and stunning three part harmonies. Their disarming on-stage presence and originality makes for a spellbinding and refreshing live experience. 2016 has seen The Mae Trio embark on their first tour of Canada as well as the upcoming release of their Nashville-recorded, second full-length album Take Care, Take Cover in early 2017.

About the Album:

Housewarming features 12 original songs written by all three band members as well as an a capella version of Kate Rusby's song Lately. With their roots firmly planted in folk tradition, they draw on a range of ideas and influences that transcend their foundations.

Produced and recorded by Luke Plumb, mandolin player in world-renowned Scottish band Shooglenifty, Housewarming also features percussion by highly respected drummer James Mackintosh (Shooglenifty, Transatlantic Sessions).

The Mae Trio write songs that are surprisingly mature and insightful, arranging them for banjo, cello, fiddle, ukulele, guitar, bass, concert marimba and superb three part vocal harmony. While the title track, Housewarming is a song about finding your feet in a new place, the album itself is a collection of songs that marks the emergence of a new and refreshing force on the Australian folk scene. A startlingly strong debut, Housewarming proves The Mae Trio have well and truly found their feet.

Stand out tracks for "The Captain" are Caroline, The Boat, William Morris, Rain, Yours For The Keeping, Walking and Lately. This album is a wonderful debut from a trio of very talented Australian musicians.
