The Definitive Collection is a compilation album by Australian musician Jimmy Little, released in July 2004 via Festival Records.

James Oswald "Jimmy" Little, AO (1 March 1937 – 2 April 2012) was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and teacher from the Yorta Yorta people and was raised on the Cummeragunja Mission, New South Wales.

From 1951 he had a career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, which spanned six decades and some thirty-three albums. For many years he was the main Aboriginal star on the Australian music scene. His music was influenced by Nat King Cole and American country music artist Jim Reeves. His gospel song "Royal Telephone" (1963) sold over 75,000 copies and his most popular album, Messenger, peaked at No. 26 in 1999 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

His mellow style earned him the nicknames of "the Balladeer", "Gentleman Jim" and "the Honey Voice".

The Definitive Collection, is just that, a presentation of Little’s outstanding career in 36 tracks.

His first single, "Mysteries Of Life"/"Heartbreak Waltz", was released in 1956, but his first hit didn't come until 1959 with "Danny Boy", which peaked at number nine in Sydney. It was followed by "El Paso", which reached number 12 in 1960.

After 17 previous singles, Little scored his biggest hit with "Royal Telephone", which peaked at number one in 1963. The Barry Gibb-penned "One Road" reached number 19 in 1964. His final hit of the era came with "Baby Blue", which peaked at number eight in 1974.

Little’s later career from the late 1990’s included songs written by Nick Cave, Ed Kuepper, Paul Kelly, Don Walker, Bernard Fanning (from Powderfinger), Brendan Gallagher (from Karma County), and Dave Graney.

It's not often an artist is recognised for his collection of cover songs, but Jimmy Little made a name for himself singing distinctive versions of well-known hits.

Check out the tracks: “Royal Telephone”; “Australia Downunder” and “The Way I Made You Feel”.

This career spanning double CD is housed in a jewel case and pressed in Australia.
